YouTube, which is owned by Google, has officially launched its multiview feature for its streaming television service. This feature allows subscribers to watch up to four different programs simultaneously on smart TVs and streaming devices such as Chromecast or Fire TV Stick. It was initially in testing and is now available for WNBA League Pass subscribers on YouTube TV and YouTube, particularly on Primetime Channels.
The multiviews can be accessed on the streaming device or smart TV's YouTube app, including the Home tab under "Recommended multiviews" and in Watch Next recommendations while watching live games. They are also available on a Primetime Channel's homepage, like the NFL or WNBA channels.
Apple also introduced a similar 'multiview' feature for its TV in beta, allowing sports fans to livestream MLB Friday Night Baseball and MLS Season Pass.
Furthermore, YouTube has announced that it will introduce 30-second non-skippable ads on connected TVs (CTVs), replacing the two 15-second consecutive ads. This move is aimed at providing advertisers with a platform for longer-form creative content and richer storytelling opportunities on the big screen.
